The first post-lockdown concert by Surrey Brass

Surrey Brass is delighted to return to the Landmark to play a Sunday Afternoon quintet concert to celebrate the return of concert giving, after the longest silence in live performance in human history.

We shall provide an enjoyable Sunday afternoon of live music for our audience, reminding everyone that Surrey Brass and the Landmark have both survived and are bouncing back.

We aim to raise funds for our old friends the Landmark Arts Centre, who continue struggling to survive and need your help to get going again. All profits will go to the Save The Landmark Appeal. Donations welcome.

The Brass Quintet permits performance of  highly varied repertoire whilst keeping everyone safe both in the audience and on stage.

A COVID-Safe Concert

For this concert, the seating plan plans to feature café tables and chairs to seat small groups. This creates an informal atmosphere for the concert, with social distancing in comfort, as well as being very convenient for your delicious Cream Tea, served at your table by Landmark volunteers. How luxurious and safe could that be?

The seating picture is clearly not at the Landmark, but is there to give you the general idea of the social distancing bubbles that will be created. It won't look exactly like this, for instance there may be fewer seats per table and the arrangement is probably going to be a bit different. We shall of course ensure that the layout fully conforms to all guidelines in force at the time.

Maximum capacity for this concert is likely to be 70, depending upon restrictions forecast to be in place at the time.
The ticketing website contains details of capacity and remaining tickets and will be updated as changes to guidelines occur.

Concert Programme 2pm

The concert features an innovative and entertaining programme of music, appealing to all ages and tastes. Popular and favourite musical material will be reprised from previous Brass Quintet concerts, and as always the programme will include music we have never performed before too. In between musical numbers, members of the quintet give short talks about various subjects including brass instruments, composers, and the programme to illustrate the music in more detail.

This concert may be the subject of another Surrey Brass first - livestreaming the show online.  A particular benefit is to reach people who cannot attend the concert due to ongoing restrictions but are keen to hear a live performance. We are very excited about this idea since it also offers the opportunity to broadcast the performance to new audiences worldwide, and may offer a way to raise funds for the Landmark too.  If it happens, a recording (video or audio, we don't know yet) may also be available after the concert. There are many details to be worked out yet, and will be sure to provide more details as soon as they become available.

Support the Landmark Arts Centre

 The Landmark is an unsubsidised charity and this unprecedented situation continues to have a significant financial impact. Your support is needed now more than ever. Between April and June 2021, as things stand we will make an operating loss of around £35,000 due to the ongoing restrictions and our concern now is getting through those three months.
